Golf - Thin Air, Big Views
The Broadmoor East is the West's Golden Age heirloom — Donald Ross greens from 1918 under Cheyenne Mountain, and U.S. Senior Opens on the books for 2031 and 2037.
Edgewood Tahoe is George Fazio's 1968 lakeside layout at 6,200 feet — the closing holes on the water are the best finish you can book in the West.
Red Sky gives you a Fazio and a Norman on either side of one Vail Valley ridge — play the Fazio for fun, then go try to hit the Norman's 283-yard par-3 16th.
Sun Valley's Trail Creek crosses its creek seven times on the front nine, and there's a Hemingway memorial just off the 8th tee.
Old Works in Anaconda is a Nicklaus design built on an old copper smelter — the first course ever built on an EPA Superfund site, with bunkers full of black slag.
Big Sky is Arnold Palmer at 6,500 feet, with elk on the fairways and drives that hang up there forever.
For a private-club bucket list: Gozzer Ranch, Colorado Golf Club, and Rock Creek Cattle Company. Wherever you play, the ball flies farther at altitude — club down and trust it.

Music - The Halloween Tapes
Dead, Capitol Theatre, 6/19/76 — the full Passaic show, posted officially by Music Vault. Start here.
Dead, Shoreline, 9/29/89 — '89 is the late-era peak, and this second set backs it up.
Dead, Buckeye Lake, 6/11/93 — an unreleased '93 show the band pulled out of the vault. The full-concert playlist will cover your whole weekend.
Panic, Savannah, 10/31/25 — last year's Halloween stream, cued up exactly one year later.
Panic, Red Rocks, 6/29/25 — the Sunday night that closed a three-night run, and nothing in this catalog hits harder than Panic at Red Rocks.
Sturgill, Outside Lands 2024 — the official full set, and the best case that he's a rock band disguised as a country act.
Sturgill, KEXP, 2013 — a four-piece in a radio studio before anyone knew his name. It's where the story starts.

Time to Eat…
Food - Two Bucks a Plate
Bowties and Broccoli — 15 minutes and six ingredients, and it's on the table before delivery would've shown up.
Southwest Chicken Skillet — half a rotisserie chicken, rice, beans, salsa, one pan, $1.69 a serving.
Garlic Butter Baked Chicken Thighs — five minutes of prep, the oven does the rest, $1.21 a serving.
Black Bean Chili — half a pound of beef stretched with three cans of beans, and it's better on day two.
Kung Pao Chicken — $1.30 a serving and better than the takeout it replaces.
Bacon and Spinach Pasta — cooking the pasta in broth instead of water is the trick, and it makes the sauce for you.
What to keep stocked: rotisserie chicken, frozen broccoli, canned beans, good Parmesan. Here's the rest of the rotation.

Relationships - The Text You Forget to Send
Across 5,900+ people, the ones who reached out consistently underestimated how much it meant to the person they reached.
The more surprising the message, the more it's appreciated — so the friend you've gone quietest on is the one who'll love hearing from you most.
The Harvard Study of Adult Development found that the people most satisfied in their relationships at 50 were the healthiest at 80.
What matters is how good your relationships are, not how many you have — ten real ones beat 500 followers.
Audit your bench: who still tells you the truth, and when did you last call them just to talk?
The lead researcher's own trick: assume the other person wants to reach out too and is hesitating for the same reasons you are.
Nobody drifts apart on purpose. It happens one unsent text at a time — so send one today.

Football - Week 9 Bracketology
Miami is 7-0, still No. 1, and the only top-10 team that didn't move this week. Right now the top seed is theirs.
The Big Ten has two byes in the current projection: Ohio State (6-1) as the projected champ and Indiana (7-1) as an at-large.
Georgia climbed to No. 3 and is the projected SEC champ — and Kentucky at 7-1 and No. 9 is the strangest sentence of the season.
The Big 12 is wide open: Utah is 7-0 and BYU fell from No. 2 to No. 8 after its first loss.
UCLA at 7-0 and No. 7 is the West Coast story nobody priced in, and they'd host Alabama in the first round if the season ended today.
Texas jumped eight spots to No. 11 and into an at-large spot. First four out: Ole Miss, Texas Tech, Wake Forest, LSU. Boise State holds the Group of Five bid.
The AP poll is only a stand-in until the committee's first rankings in early November. For what it's worth, both of ESPN's bracket projections two weeks ago had Miami playing for the title.
On the road again…
Travel - First Chair, New England
Stowe is the No. 1 winter town in New England, and it's the easy answer for a reason.
Bethel, Maine was voted America's Best Ski Town — base here and ski Sunday River.
North Conway puts Cranmore in town and Attitash down the road, with Mount Washington looming over both.
Jackson, New Hampshire is the one you'll drive past without noticing the turnoff. Don't.
Lake Placid has hosted two Winter Olympics, and Whiteface has the biggest vertical drop east of the Rockies.
Mad River Glen is skier-owned, skis-only, and still running the single chair it opened in 1948 — "Ski It If You Can" isn't a joke.
Woodstock, Vermont is the move for Killington. Ski the Beast, sleep in the postcard — pick the mountain first and let the town follow.
Take care of yourself…
Exercise - Ski Legs in Seven
Step 1 — Warm-up: 2 minutes of jumping jacks and high knees. Do the whole circuit 3 times, with 60 seconds of rest between rounds.
Step 2 — Wall sit, 45 seconds: this is the burn you'll feel on your third top-to-bottom run, so get to know it now.
Step 3 — Reverse lunges, 10 per leg: they build single-leg strength without beating up your knees.
Step 4 — Push-ups, 12: go from your knees if you need to, but keep the form clean.
Step 5 — Skater hops, 20 total: jump side to side and stick each landing. This is your edge control.
Step 6 — Glute bridges, 15: hold each one for two seconds at the top.
Step 7 — Plank 45 seconds, then side plank 20 seconds per side: the work you put in this November is what keeps your legs under you in February.
